Ruthlessly Pursuing Soul Igniting Passion.

The Urban dictionary can be funny, and it can be spot on.  The definition of passion is written like this there:

Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind, body and soul into something as is possible.

I can’t begin to describe the feeling better than this.  The passion that wakes me up in the morning to do the work for others that I do.  The passion that drives me to workout, teach yoga as well as practice it, and the passion that is in my relationship of over 20 years.  I was once told that I actually had too much excitement to be a teacher.  By the lady who hired me…for my passion of teaching.  Interesting.

Many people in life will try to stomp out that passion, and either through no fault of your own, or perhaps because it wasn’t really there to begin with, you might let them.  I admit that I let my passion for being a school teacher fade away into curriculum that wasn’t interesting, principals who were life draining, secretaries who were evil and gossipy, and co-workers who no longer gave a crap and got away with teaching half-ass or not at all…but were getting paid.  The things that excited me about being a classroom teacher soon faded away.

Until I started teaching others to pursue their passion like it is their job…because it is.

I remember the first client I taught in yoga.  The first time I presented a class about self-care and healing, and the first workshop I presented.  I saw that passion ignite yet again.  And as I started thinking about my passion today, on what would have been another first day back to school for me if I had stayed in the classroom, I realized that my passion for helping others just morphed into something that I had been craving my whole life.  I wholeheartedly put myself into my work with my clients and I am constantly putting my head, heart and soul into my work and teachings…even though my course, classes and such are taught online through a different platform.

Ruthlessly pursue your passion.  Here’s how:

  1. Ask yourself this question.  Do you love what you are doing?  If the answer is no, why do you stay there?  What might happen if you changed professions?
  2. Does your current relationship provide you with everything you need?  Why or why not?  What could you do to ignite the passion if it is lost?  Have you ever actually addressed it?
  3. When was the last time you got very quiet and listened to what your heart wanted?  Did you ignore it or follow through and see where it is leading you?
  4. Do you ignore the signs that things need to change?  What does this show you?
  5. Make a list of 5 things that you would try if you knew you could not fail.  Are you surprised by your answers?

Edit what is NOT working.

  1. Make a list of where you are settling.  Friendships…people who can’t be bothered to check on you, keep plans with you, or show up for you because of x, y, z excuse.  I don’t care what they said, would you treat them that way?  I didn’t think so.  You, and I, deserve far better.
  2. Food that makes you feel gross.  Why are you eating that if an hour later you will wish you hadn’t?  Same goes with drinking that, or going to mediocre restaurants.  Stop wasting your money…and time, on crap because it never makes you feel good.
  3. Relationships that are draining.  You are putting in all the effort or you aren’t putting any in because you are done.  In both cases, not working.  Either change it, edit it, or move on.
  4. Clothes that make you feel ugly, frumpy, old or too young, or just don’t fit you right.  Again, a waste of money and time.  Be comfortable.  Get the nice clothes, and get less if it’s an issue with money, but get something that really makes you feel good.  Stop saving pants for the days you might be that size again…either up or down, it doesn’t fit you now.  Don’t hoard it away.  Donate.
  5. Self-care.  Please follow this board, and if needed book something now.  I am not kidding.  Why are you waiting for the day when you will have time for it?  We all have exactly the same amount of time…except my clients make the time.  I help them find the time, and I streamline their process so that they actually have time to devote to their self-care routines, and enjoy it.  Not feel guilty about it.  Putting things off only makes the pain last longer and keeps you in struggle, instead of liberating your soul and finding what you were truly meant to pursue in this life.

My passions are helping others get their groove back, yoga, meditation, facing my inner demons, natural healing, journal therapy, manifesting and pulling what I want closer to me…in shorter time.  If you want to know more, read this.
